Not long ago some kind person - Jenny I think - found a JOnes family for me on the 1871 census. I really need the birth place so the birth certificate can be traced. any idea where the other were registered? looking on 'Esther' to see where she might have been registered there are 3 all Shropshire. Jess

Hard one this. It's not for me but a friend who has been trying to find her Annie Jones for years. So I said I would try and help. We went into the local library and looked up the funeral report which gave the names of 2 sisters. Thankfully one was a Mrs Tabernacle so easy to find in the 1901 census. Hazel has now got her marriage certificate - Elizabeth Jones. On that everything from the 1871 census fits - father John Jones, bricklayer. But the age for Ann/Annie varies on the census and what she already knew from her marriage certificate and grave. As we all know ages vary on everything just to confuse us. She is sure this is her family though. Obviously when she has tried to find Ann/Annie's birth in the past she has been looking at the wrong years. I doubt she has any other brith certificates but I will email now and see what she has and what registration district she thinks they could be. Thanks for all your help Jane

Ann/Annie is certainly proving elusive. I have advised Hazel she may be better off sending for a siblings' birth certificate to get the mother's maiden name that way. She was told it was Edwards but everythign else she has been told of this family has turned out not to be true! Jane

Thanks Jess - a few for her to choose from there. I have told her she may be better off having a day at Shrewsbury for the Parish records. Jane
