Jim I have found his brother, Gilbert, born Dec Qtr 1870. Not looked for others yet. Sarah That looks like him, thanks very much, I wonder if any of his siblings are on IGI - I will have a look now. Thanks again everyone. Lyn |

I wondered about this IGI baptism: John Owen Birth: 16 DEC 1879 Christening: 13 FEB 1880 Warrington, Lancashire, England Parents: Father: John Owen Mother: Anne Owen It isn't transcribed from the original PR's but gives you a POSSIBLE dob to work with. Sarah |

He has siblings. A quick look does not seem to find entries which match them either. |

Sarah / Geoff Yes, I agree with you both and have searched that period - none in Warrington. Thanks Lyn |

Jess Thanks, I thought it must mean he was at least one year old but wasn't sure. Jim The trouble is I can't find ANY births in Warrington between Jun 1879 and Dec 1880. Thanks anyway, I think I may have to request a 3 year search from GRO. Lyn |

........ meaning that his birth could have been registered in Q2 1880. |

Woolston with Martinscroft are in Warrington Reg District. If he was aged 1 then in theory this should mean he was born between March 1879 and March 1880 (ie just one or up to almost two), but only in theory!! Sarah |

I would have though he was born early 1880 if his age is given as 1. Some are recorded as x months, or xMo which suggestes he'd had his first birthday, or was about to jess |

John Owen, born 1880, according to 1881& 1891 and 1901 census, born in Woolston or Martinscroft. I have found a couple of possible births about the right time but one is Prescot and the other is West Derby. Also on 1881 his age is given as 1 year so does this mean he was born before March 1880 or did they round it up in those days? Any advice appreciated. Thanks Lyn |
