Hi Stephen, I'm guessing that you either have contacted or been contacted by someone with a possible link to your tree. If you have contacted someone, all the names on their tree will show contacted beside when you view a name common to you both. Stephen, I hope that makes sense to you. I can't think of an easier way to explain it. Give me a mo and I might. LOL Christine.

I'm back Stephen, Had a mo to think. Hypothetical case. You have a Bert Bloggs in you're tree and you find a very similiar Bert Bloggs on the names board. You contact that person to find out if you have any connection. That person has 50 'Bloggs' in their tree. If you go through all the Bloggs, any that have been added by the person you contacted, will say 'Contacted' next to that name. Clear as mud. Christine. LOL

It can mean they have replied to you if you are requesting information on the trying to find board by clicking onto your name and leaving a message. You can do a name search for the person by going to your home page and following the instructions.Its easier when its a male as the females are under their maiden name usually. All those with that name will come up and the person who has contacted you or you have contacted them, and they have replied will have a tick beside the name. It will not work if you have had a reply on the board, only if they have clicked onto your name to contact you off the boards if that makes sense. It is hard to trace a name if they are using a name other than their birth name such as Fred from kENT. Margaret
