I've been using this site for as long as I've been researching my rellies... it has been a great tool - found my great-great-grandfathers chip shop on Historical Directories.

I wonder if that is three years from now, or three years from when it was first available? It's been on my favourites list since the end of 2003. Sarah

Gosh I do hope this site doesn't disappear. It's so useful. You can look for a relative in in the residential section, or find him/her in the trades/commercial section. If you have an address from a census or a certificate you can look it up and see what kind of neighbourhood it was and roughly where in the road the house was. Sometimes you can then trace your ancestor's footsteps and find the house is still there and take piccies! nell

Hi All Have spent most of the evening trawling through this site, fabulous for facts - even found a rellie who had a shop! BUT - lastest update says it's only going to be online for 3 years! I'm going to e-mail now to find out what's going to happen to this information in 2008 http://www(.)historicaldirectories(.)org/hd/index(.)asp Wait for an update - they don't have a project team any more so don't want to bombard them till we know what their plans are J
