Got a problem with my tree. My Mother's sister married my Father's brother. Is there anyway of showing this on my tree without adding my aunt twice? I'm tracing my Mum's family abck as well? Hope you understand that!

Not on this site No. Its just not sophisticated enough to realise that might happen... Why they cant change it i dont know! Jess x

Oh, that's a bit disappointing. They mustn't realise that some of us like to keep it in the family! Thanks anyway.

Its part of the 'olde worlde charm' of this site. - like having to have someone in your tree before you can add them to 'trying to find' - my late brother has had more hypothetical wives and children attributed to him than i care to remember ( had a wife called david at one point!!) - I always hang them on him because he never married or had children and i know where they are then to delete again Jess x

I have more than one case like you (siblings marrying siblings) and have just spent 12 minutes looking for the first set of four on my tree (lol - only with GR could it take that long to find them!) I (eventually) came across them - they only appear once each on my tree and once each on my list of relations. I don't know if that's because I put my tree on here as a gedcom? Isn't it ridiculous that you can't add any variance of relationship etc etc on this site, whichever way you care to do it..... Sarah

Hi Sarah, Got it it one!. You can't correctly show these 'inter' marriages if you enter them manually on this site. If you load your tree on here as a gedcom from another software program, all relationships are shown correctly!!?? Debbie

In other words, you need to use a 3rd party software because the one provided with this site is inadequate... GR have known about this problem for a long time, but they haven't fixed it as yet... no doubt because they're too busy policing the message boards and deleting threads that they disagree with :(( Richard
