Does anyone know what sojourner means??

Hi Sarah, Kathleen and Julie Thank you for that info. that makes more sense than it being a different faith!! lol So now I can work out which one (the bride or groom) was the resident of where I am looking!! Thank you for your quick responces! Tammy |

I think it means 'to reside temporarily', so I assume it means that the person doesn't usually live in the parish. Please check this though as I am not absolutely sure. Kath. x |

I thought it meant he was temporarily resident in the parish. He might well have come to live in the bride's for a few weeks before the marriage to save having the banns read in two parishes (his and hers) which would have cost more! Sarah |

I have been going through some parish records for Cornwall and this word - sojourner sometimes appears next to the Grooms name or the brides name!!! I have googled but don't really understand still!! Is it a faith?? Thank you Tammy |
