> write over my data already in 2004 Installing a later version of FTM does not effect the data your created in FTM 2004 (aka version 11). Your .FTW file will be there and FTM 2005 will read it just like the earlier version did. Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia |

Thank you!!!!! That is fantastic news!!! I would hate to lose all my data (over 1000 names!) but would put it all in again if necessary- not a nice job in the first place but second time round would be horrid! Many many thanks, Sineadxxx |

When you install a newer version of Family Tree Maker over an older version only the program files are overwritten, guaranteed. Your data will still be in the updated version exactly as it was in the old version. Trust me. Regards Carol www.genealogyprinters(.)com |

Not sure about overwriting but you can save your tree as a gedcom file and then upload it into the new version. Lyn |

Hello all, I have a freesample tester of Family Treemaker 2004. I have used this and think it is great! However- here is my query!! If I bought a full copy of Family Treemaker 2005 would it write over my data already in 2004 and incorporate it into the new one or would it stay separate and I would have to put all the data in all over again? Any advice would be very welcome! Thank you, Sineadxxx |
