Hi Judy, just getting round to cleaning up my computor, got the temp files and cookies done, also done disk clean up, you have disk scan next, when I go onto system tools, there is no scan disk, there is as follows, Backup...Character Map...Disk Cleanup...Disk defragmenter...Files & Settings Transfer Wizard...Scheduled Tasks...Security Centre...System Information...and System Restore... Is Scan Disk and Disk Clean up the same thing, if not, what do I do now, do I just defrag. Many thanks. |

Hi! If you're using XP, you'll find there is no option to run a disk scan so XP users can skip that maintenance job.....disk clean up and disk scan do two different things. XP does have a disk scan feature but it's not necessary to do (that option is not found where it normally is for other Windows operating systems, ie: Windows 98, ME, 2000.) when doing routine maintenance....
