Reference Numbers on 1837online

While looking through some pages at 1837online, I noticed that a few had the reference numbers changed. In some cases it is a totally different volume and page number, not just a letter or number changed which could have been a correction of a typing error. Any idea why these things occur please |

Birth ref's are changed in the case of subsequent adoption Carol, was it just births you noticed? Sam |

Mostly births but some marriages as well. |

The images on 1837online are of pages from the big index books of births, deaths and marriages. I guess the people who, years ago, drew up those indexes from all the different volumes deposited for each quarter could have made errors and entered the wrong reference for an event, which were later discovered and corrected in the way you noticed. |
