You could still try to get back to her through her sister. You know where her sister was born and roughly the year & you know her dad's name & occupation (from the marriage certificate that your friend has). If you try to look for all the Elizabeths that match with the fathers details in 1871 then follow the familys through to 1881, Annie & possibly Hettie should appear. It might be a bit time consuming but you should get there. Good luck, and if you need any help just ask. Rachel |

As I said it's for a friend. As far as I know (remember!) Annie Jones married Mr Moore after moving to this area - Lancashire but around Liverpool. So hazel (my friend) does have the marriage certificate but can find no trace of Annie's birth. Not an easy one though. She recently found the funeral report in a local paper which gave her the name of 2 sisters - Elizabeth & Hettie. Elizabeth was Mrs Tabernacle so that made the 1901 search easy. She has no idea when Hettie was born or what her full name may have been. So lateral thinking that she could get back via Elizabeth rather than Annie which seems a no go. Jane |

No offence meant but are you sure that the Elizabeth in 1881 is yours (or hers should I say), there are loads of them to choose from! Not sure if she has this marriage already but: Marriages Mar 1896 Jones Elizabeth Leigh 8c 348 Tabernacle James Leigh 8c 348 If she already has this cetrificate, what does it list as father's occupation? That might help when trying to track them through the various census. Good luck with it Rachel |

I am asking for a friend who has been trying to find her Grandmother for many years. At last she has a lead. Grandmother was Annie Jones so not an easy one to trace. However she had a sister called Elizabeth who became Mrs Tabernacle and this has given her a start. 1901 census - Elizabeth Tabernacle age 33 wife of James living at Leigh born in Shropshire 1881 census - Elizabeth Jones age 13 servant living at Ellesmere born at St. Martins Shropshire So hopefully in 1871 - Elizabeth Jones age 3 dau of John Jones born at St. Martins Shropshire Annie wasn't born until 1873 but this would get her back a generation. Thanks Jane |
