I have a rellie who married in 1938 called Elizabeth Sparshott (married William Lightfoot). He was older than her at 28 she was 17 years. My grandfather (her brother) knew that she had not stayed married but I don't know when she split with her husband or if she remarried. I have looked on 1832 for her as a Sparshott and a Lightfoot for remarriage but no answers have appeared I have searched from 1940 - 1950. Any more suggestions. I cannot ask family any questions as my grandfather has now passed away and he did not talk much of his family. I only know this from my grandmother, he only told her a little about his family it is a great mystery I would like to solve!!! |

There is one death between 1984 and 2003 of a Elizabeth Lightfoot born in 1921. This was registered in December 1988. Do you have her exact date of birth ? Deborah |

Ohhhhhhh!! Must tell you about traceline. My gran & grandad split up when my dad was about 7ish so mid 1950s. My dad never spoke about his mum & I never thought to ask until after he died. I started to trace my tree firstly just to find out her name, her parents etc and got hooked! Someone told me about traceline, they will trace people through their national health number. Firstly you have to ring them and explain who you are looking for, etc. They then send you an application form which you have to fill in and it costs about £25 I think. Traceline P.O. Box 106 Southport PR8 2WA Tel: +44(0)151 471 4811 Opening hours:- Monday-Friday 9.00am to 4.30pm. Fax: +44(0)1704 563354 http://www.gro.gov.uk/gro/content/research/traceline/index.asp#0 that should help you if you have any questions about it. They found my gran, I got to send her a letter (through traceline) and she replied. If they find her and she doesn't want to know then they won't tell you any of her details. I can't praise them enough for finding my gran. Good luck if you do decide to use them Rachel |

Thanks Rachel I'm hoping this will work. I'll give it a go for my Dad's sake as she is an Aunt that he never knew. He may have cousins by now even if she did not hve any from her first marriage. |
