I am having problems reading census, particularly the relationship to the head of the household - looks like apesant (? - what is this) and also the job description which is Assistant ............ The census in question is for a Dinah Becks in Fakenham, District of Walsingham, RG10/1850 Folio 57 Page 10 and she is the last one on the page. Any help much appreciated Kind regards Sue |

I think it says 'assistant' and then in occupation it says 'assistant mistress'. It is the old fashioned way of writing s's as f's. The head of the household is 'mistress of national school'. Kath. x |

Relationship is Assistant, and occupation is Assistant Mistress. It's that old kind of letter a bit like a f that was used for double s that makes it difficult to read. The head of household was 'Mistress of Natl. School'. Snap, Kathleen! Kate. |
