Hi Ted, I have seen this thread and have seen the post on MY thread offering lookups at the Archives - you are both asking for info on the same name, are you the same person/related to Tina? If not, I will let you know how I get on looking for the baptism etc of Richard Lee. I also have the Staffs 1841 census but if I'm being honest, I haven't replied to your request because I don't know when I would find time to look through Hanley (500+ pages) for someone that may not even be there. I have still to trawl through Hanley looking for some of my own family so could do it at the same time but didn't reply because I couldn't give you a timescale, I don't know when I will get round to it (if you see what I mean). I had a thread offering lookups but, due to lack of time that I have / the amount of time lookups take - I had to 'close' it. As I said, I'll keep you posted on Friday as to what I find at the Archives. Other than that I should find a spare hour or two sunday afternoon so could do the census then if you still want it. Hope this is OK. Sam x

Ted, 'Sam from stoke' is offering look ups at the records office in Stoke and there is someone on the thread asking for exactly the same family as you are looking for. Will check the 1841 census for you at the weekend, Audrey

Audrey, thats very good of you, thanks very much. Dad John LEE, coal miner and RICHARD LEE, potter. it almost smells of STAFFS dont you think. RICHARD got married in 1839 in MANCHESTER and was on the 1851 census in MANCHESTER but gave his birthplace as Hanley, Staffs, so I thought that it is possible that he was in HANLEY in 1841, although he could have been in MANCHESTER, as he was 50 yrs of age in 1851. His dad JOHN if he was still alive then, it didnt say he was deceased on RICHARDS marr cert, would be in his 60s I would have thought in 1841, that is if miners lived that long in those days. But youve been very kind, again many thanks, if you should get another look at the census, maybe JOHN LEE might be the one to look for, age 60ish. TED.

hi all, does anyone have the 1841 census for HANLEY, STOKE, STAFFS please? Im looking for RICHARD LEE, who would have been around age 40, and his occupation would probably have been a POTTER. He could have been living with his father JOHN who was a coal miner. RICHARD lived in MANCHESTER in 1851 but gives his place of birth as STAFFORDSHIRE, HANLEY, and being a potter, and his dad being a coal miner it shouts of STAFFORDSHIRE, so Im hoping someone can help me please. Thanks very much for any help you can give. TED.
