Can anyone tell me if I have this right: Is it Parish of Leyland & St James or Parish of Leyland & James? It was in Lancaster as per 1901. What was the distinance approx from Anfield, Liverpool also at this time? Many thanks. |

You siad in Lancaster - hope you mean Lancashire. Nearest I have found is Leyland in the Chorley Registration district in which there is a parish of St James. I am not a Lancs person (Londoner) Distance appears to be about 25-30 miles. Maybe a Lancs person will correct me. |

Julia I have just finished flogging through the Parish Registers of St James, Leyland - which is in the County of Lancashire of course.(It is often referred to in old documents as the County of Lancaster) My ancestors divided themselves equally between this Church and the Parish Church at Chorley - about 5 miles apart on the map. Hope this helps. Marjorie |
