Thank you valerie and Louise. I have already had a look on the website which I should have mentioned in my message. Sorry! I saw on there that it's possible to apply for a reader's pass in advance so that it's ready when you arrive at the library. I was wondering if it was worth doing this or if getting the pass on the day is a quick and easy thing to do? This is going to be my first records office visit and I think it's going to be quite daunting! Helen

I think you will find you have to have a pass if you look at the site it tells you all the info you will need like having proof of who you are etc

I've got one day to visit the reading rooms and a great deal of things to find out! So, I was wondering if anybody had already been and if you could tell me how user friendly the place is, how much I can reasonably expect to get done and if it's worth applying for a reader's pass before going to save time. Oh and anything else you think I should know! Thank you Helen
