Hi Deb I have looked on the Staffs 1851 surname index and there are no HALLFORDs at all. There are about 10 HALFORDs. Although my surname index covers the whole county, my CD's only cover North Staffs. I have checked all the HALFORDs in that area but none are yours although there is one in Longton, Stoke on Trent where the page is completely illegible so I don't know if its him or not. There are a few more on the south of the county which unfortunately I can't check. Barbara over on the records board is offering Staffs 1851 lookups and she has the whole county so it may be worthwhile getting her to check the others. Sam x

I have Staffs 1851 but I'm at work at the moment - If no-one else looks before I get home, I'll have a look for you later. Sam x

Hi Sam Thanks for the tip, he did eventually move to Staffordshire but dont know at what time so thought it best to leave it without a county. Maybe i could add both Staffordshire and Shropshire eh? Thanks Deb X

Hi Deb, The 1851 is split into counties so it may help if you put the county you need looking up into your title. Is he likely still to be in Shropshire or did he move elsewhere? Sam x
