Has anyone ever been to Poland to do Family History research, and if so how did you get on? |

We have also found that no one seems to want to talk about the past. Whilst we have no longer any known relatives in Poland - my grandparents died in the 1970's and my father was the only surviving child from six, - we have made contact with a familly who share our surname and who live in a small town only a few miles away from where my father's family came from. As our name is very uncommon even in Poland, there is a strong posibility that this family is related somewhere in the past, but there is seemingly no great desire to pursue any research. We are lucky in that my father asked his parents to obtain a copy birth certificate for him in 1950 which they sent over to England. |

Just got back to this thread, and notice the replies. Thanks for all that info Kat, hope something will be of help. It would appear that my husbands g,g'dad came from Poland and it would be the Jewish records we need. No known relatives in Poland to help with translating though, so that could be our problem. Thought we might go for a holiday next year to see what we can find out. Val |
