(Found on Scotlands People) I have found William Roden (jnr) on the 1881 census aged 16 at Blue Coat School Peasholme Green York as a Student Teacher. He went on to be a schoolteacher in Nicholforest Cumberland. Elizabeth and William were obviously together in 1864 in Scotland but I cannot find William senior on any census or them all together as a family at any time. Any suggestions as to where else I can look would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks Gill

The only William Roden I can find in the 1871 census, who is married, but not with family, and of about the right age, is described as born c.1824 in Scotland, and is working as an attendant in Newcastle Lunatic Asylum. Kath. x

Hi Kathleen Sorry I had to leave the computer. I did see that one but as i don't know where he was born I am undecided if he is the one. It is a bit of a difference from butler to attendence in a lunatic asylum. I think i will have to get his marriage certificate and see if there are any leads on there. Thanks so much for looking. Gill
