Hi Sarah, Never saw Mary as being 11. She was one year old so it was a mistake. Well done on your research. The English comes from Edward's mothers maiden name. Never thought of the Boer war!!!!!!!!! Many thanks for you help. Anne-Marie

Hi Jess, She shows as married. He was born in Newcastle. They were married in 1896 in Alnwick, she aged 21 he 26. spinster and bachelor. Their first child died in 1897. Interesting it is her mother who married his father that is living with her. She is widowed again by 1901. I will look at the site you mention. Thanks for your help Anne-Marie

Great grandfather EDWARD NOBLE born 1869 does not show up on the 1901 census although his wife HENRIETTA NOBLE and children do, living in Alnwick, Northumberland. He should be somewhere as he lived until 1953. Any hints on other avenues to find him. He was an engineer who worked on the fairground traction engines so it is possible that he was working away from home. But where? Thanks for any help. Anne-Marie
