Hi Ted Thanks for all the info you sent me - will email you direct. However, I am not sure if we will find John Lee in Manchester. Richard was born in Hanley, Staffordshire, according to the 1851 census, and was variously a potter and an earthenware dealer. John was a miner. A miner and a potter screams Stoke on Trent/Hanley to me, and suggests that not only was Richard born in Hanley, but grew up and learned his trade there before he moved to Manchester, where he married in 1839. So it is possible that John would be back home in the Hanley area. I would expect that the children with Richard and Ann in 1841 whould be John (born 1839/40) and just possibly the first Jeremiah, born about 1841 (christened in December 1841). Charles was not christened until July 1843, so probably not born in 1841. Hopefully Richard and Ann and baby John can be found, but I am not sure if John Lee senior would be with them. |
