Barbara Start with the info on your birth cert. You now have your mum and dad's names and your dad's occupation. From this you can go back and find their marriage. The marriage cert will have their fathers (your two grandfathers) names and occupations. You can also get your parents' birth certs which will have their mothers (your grandmothers) names. Then you can get both grandparents' marriage and birth certs etc till you get back to 1901 and can start looking on the census. If you go to the homepage of this website and scroll down you will find a section called 'Getting Started' which I think you will find very useful. Your local library will also have lots of books on this very topic. And of course you can ask the friendly people here too! Happy hunting nell |

Barbara, it may seem obvious, but when looking for your parents marriage, remember to take into account any older brothers or sisters you may have. Its a good idea to start looking just after the oldest was born, as many only got married when the woman found herself pregnant. Well, they did on mine. |
