Any ideas how I can work out the names that someone has registered under their tree (without emailing them an innocuous enquiry and getting the tick by the name) I think I have found a birth cousin and certainly don't want to do anything about emailing her via GR. However would love to know which names she has put onto her tree, just so I can check it out. Make sense? Suggestions appreciated... (its a common surname so I can't go through the whole lot!) Liz |

If you hover the cursor over the name (i.e. any of the underlined words from a search), then look in the status bar along the bottom of your browser window, you will see a line of text appear. Should look something like: http://www.genesreunited,com/genesreunited.asp?wci=MakeContact&results=50&ContactRelationKey=9999999&ContactKey=888888888 The 'ContactKey' part of the above text will be the same for every name of a given member (e.g. 888888888 in my example above). This is the member's ID number, so if they have a message on the boards, you can see the same number by hovering the cursor over their name. Richard |

I don't think there is a way... GR are very 'up' on privacy (so I'm told). The only way you can view a tree with all names is by permission from the author. Sorry but can't be of more help. |

The only way to to contact the other member and even then, they might not give you permission to view their tree. If you don't want them to see yours when you make the initial contacy, make sure you remove the tick at the bottom. Sam x |

If you look for the names you think he/she might have added and then go on as if to e-mail them - the member number and name of the person who added it comes up. You then cancel before e-mailing and then look at the next name to see if same member has added it. This will only work if you simply want to confirm the names you already know. |
