Where do I try next for a marriage

Need to find a marriage for hopefully the wifes maiden name not on IGI and before registration Have William Fossett c 1790 born Newington, Surrey wife Jeanette ? c 1792 Surrey. First child born 1814 in Newington, Surrey Where do I try next? |

Wife's maiden name will be on the marriage cert in the parish register. It would probably be a parish either where the bride was born, or nearby but I see you don't have a place of birth for her. Sooooo a)you could ask someone with BIVRI discs to look it up (if its on BIVRI) b)you could see if the relevant family history society has done parish marriage register transcripts and will search for you - for a few £ c) you could check Boyd's - not sure which parishes when are covered. It's available on English Origins -again someone on these boards may do a look up d) it might be on Family History Online e) you could spend the rest of your life at a records office going through microfilm of marriage registers. nell |

Just had a peek on my VRI disk. No joy sorry, but I did notice an enormous variation in spelling. Fossett, Fawcett, Fowcett ect. Claire xx |

Claire Thanks for looking, they are an odd bunch further down the line, My Gt grandfather has used several names through his life and on census returns the spelling for the whole family varies. |
