Saw a message on here the other day about entering Father and Mothers name and getting all the children of those people. Found 14 brothers and sisters all christened in the same place, WHOOPEE. Guess who's already whizzed through all her housework and is now set for a day on the computer? Keep the tips coming please, people like me, who are still fairly new to this, need people like you. THANKS A LOT Linda x |

Hello Linda, The following website has been mentioned lots of times before, but it is very useful. The easiest way to get to it is to google 'Hugh Wallis batch numbers'. Then choose the first option on the list. This gives you all the IGI batch numbers It brings up a list of counties, obviously choose the one you want, then the town and church. You then simply enter the surname of the family you are researching. It will bring up all the baptisms. or marriages, or deaths for that family, depending on which option you have chosen. I have found lots of people this way Linda |

Linda You do need to be a bit cautious using this method, there may be more than one couple with the same names in the same place, particularly if its a village(!). You may have two or even more, families who are cousins etc. The LDS Pedigree Trees gives my poor 4 x GT Grandmother 44 children. These were obviously collected using the Batch Number system. When I checked each child on the PRS it became clear that no less than seven couples named James and Margaret went to the same Church. I was able to identify some families i.e. where James was a Farmer or a Wheelwright, but am still left with about ten children who cannot be positively assigned to a particular set of James and Margaret as their parents. Of course if your family is the only de Chunleigh-Waterton in the area then you are fairly safe! Marjorie |
