great big growl! according to newspaper records, my John richard roberts took part in the relief of mafeking (17/05/1900) and ladysmith 27/02/1900) he helped a Col. Gough on his shoulders to nearest first aid post, John Richard Roberts had given his age as18 to enlist instead of 16 my calculations on marriage records I have show him to be 14 at the most! born 1876, died 1966, 27/05 He received the star of africa, in first world war he joined wessex battalion, and served in europe,middle eas and europe, he was chosen as Guard of honour when Duke of Windsor was installed as Prince of Wales at caernarvon castle in 1911, cannot find his parents anywhere, but have his grandparents, with whom he was living with as a child, May have married a Sarah Ann Pratt born in siera leone, but married in Pwllheli, anyone....where on earth can i find his parents, would it be on his millitary records?

I don't know about his military records, but...His fathers name should be on his marriage certificate, and his mothers name should be on his birth certificate.

If you have his marriage record then you have his father and occupation. Crista

thanks everyone for your replies, am going to order a marriage certificate, seems to be the easiest option! lol
