My brother-in-law was in the Fleet Air Arm and twice Mentioned in Despatches in WW11 before being killed on HMS Illustrious in 1941. I've been googling for an hour and going in circles round FAA, London Gazette and 'Mentioned in Despatches' trying to find a site which might tell me what the mentions were for. Does anyone out there know where I can fnd this info?! |

Not sure if this is what you're looking for, but the national Archives has info on this: http://www.catalogue.nationalarchives(.)gov(.)uk/RdLeaflet.asp?sLeafletID=35 remove () Re:Second World War, 1939-1945 just over half way down the page :) |

I found my Dad's 'Mentioned in Despatches' in the London Gazette on line. That is where they were always published. It doesn't tend to say exactly why often just being in a combat area that was particularly tricky. Jan |

NRH and Janice. Sorry to be so late with my thanks for those suggestions! Still trying to find my way round the London Gazette site - if no luck then it will be a visit to Kew! |
