One of my ancestors was born in what looks like Lagende Larkes, Essex. I have looked on a map, but cannot find any town or village like it. Does anyone have any idea what this could be? Many thanks, Kathy |

Thanks Maggie. Alan, I think it could be Layer de la Haye. It's from the 1861 census. Kathy |

Thanks everyone for all your kind help. It must be Layer de la Haye, but would never have found it without your help. I see it on the map now just south of Colchester. Regards, Kathy |
