Reeds of Ireland..Help and advice please..

Karen. yes I have all the family history in England Its the Irish bit that is really getting to me Its strange when you have 2 parents and 6 children travelling from Ireland to County Durham and you can't find the County of birth in Ireland.. Any help would be most appreciated. Mike

Michael There is a Malachi Reed on the 1861 census in Durham however he is indicated as a widower. His birth place is listed as Ireland, but doesn't give a county. He has 3 children with him - James, Michael and Thomas - and all are listed as being born in Durham. If these are yours is there a chance that the marriage took place in England? Karen

Lunar... Yes..! ! Its a continuous struggle. The real problem is ..(No Birth County). The info I have is from their death certs.. thanks again Lunar.. Mike

Civil registration for Ireland started in 1864 on the whole but 1845 for non-cathlic marriages, so no marrige certificate. You'll need parish records for the info you seek.

I have struggled for 2 years with the following.. I am now reduced to a gibbering idiot with no hair. my gt gt gt Grandparents Malachi Reed bn 1799 Ireland ...........no birth County married Mary O'Hara bn 1807 Ireland..no birth county they married abt 1830 / 31.. My real problem is how can I find a marriage cert and how do I find birth Counties Or do I dissappear into oblvion canny lad Mike
