Hubby has just found an ancestor who was a Clerk for a Russia Merchant. What was a Russia Merchant? Was it just someone who traded in all things Russian, or was it something to do with tobacco/alcohol? Louise |

Could it be something to do with a marine business - i.e. Russia Merchant shipping? |

Thanks everyone. I've e-mailed Lee Jackson at his Victorian London website and he's given me some ideas too. Louise |
