Hi Can anyone help me. I need to find out exact birth dates for the following, all born first quarter 1924, all share the name Margaret Brooks?? My Grandmother was Margaret Brooks born 01 February 1924. I want to find out if any other of exactly the same name share the same birth date. Is there any way of doing this rather than paying out for all the birth certs? (Prohibitively expensive). I am trying to get access to my grandmother's war work record and they seem to think there are 2 born on the same day with her name and I can't get access at the moment. I think it is unlikely there were 2 born on the same day with the same name but need to know for sure/prove this. This war work record, we believe from letters we have, will reveal the name of my mother's father/prove clues and thusenable her to trace him and family. So how do I find out birth dates for the following (all with surname BROOKS and born first quarter 1924): Margaret (mother's maiden name DILL) Birkenhead Margaret.E (' ' HAYCROFT) Neath Margaret.E(' 'PACKHAM) Newhaven Margaret.E.M. (' ' POBGEE) Bromley Margaret.J. (' 'JENNER) Gloucester Margaret.K. (MARTELL) Edmonton Thanks a million! Julia |

Julia If you apply online for the birth certidicate, put in that the GRO refenrnce is not know and then proceed as normal putting names and date of birth in the relavent places, if you know the names of the parents you can put those in to as cheaking points. This should cost about £11.50. The alternative is to order all the certificats at £7 each, if you can add cheaking points - parents names for example - and there is no match the they will refund £4 per certificate If you know roughly were you grandmother was born, that should enable you to narrow down the possable correct Margaret for you family. If you can get you grandmothers birth certificate it will give you her parents names and you should be able to use these to get her war records, but you may have to prove that she is nolonger alive and that you and your mum are related to her with your birth certificates. |

Your grandmother's marriage certificate will have her father's name, which can then be used to identify her birth certificate or war records. |

you can apply for one cert, online, giving all 6 refs, and the date of birth as a checking point. It'll cost £7 for the first ref and £3 each for the other 5, total £22, but you should get £4 back if there isn't a match on the date. You end up with either the cert for the other Margaret or an email saying there isn't one |
