John The 1861 census on 1837online is much like others - it gives you either a transcript - which is full of errors - or you can view the original census page. Both options will cost 3 units each. Not all counties are covered yet, but they are gradually being added. There is a facility to search by person or by address. I have failed to find people who existed and others who were mistranscribed, but you can suggest amendments and 1837 have credited me with extra units when they have agreed with my version. Like most census searches, you can only find it when you know what it says. But you are only searching because you want to know what it says!!! Catch-22. nell |
