Hi, Thanks for that. Think that will probably be my next port of call! Seem to be coming up against a lot of brick walls now!!! Suppose that's how it goes once you get so far back! Janet

Hi, I don't know how the Scottish way is done. If it's similar to the English/Welsh way then you can go to the local big library and search the records there (if you're in scotland). They should have a records office in nearly every county in the country and even the UK. You can probably search up until 2004 for births/marriages/deaths. Hope this helps Something to consider or think about Steve

Thanks!Have been using scotlandspeople.gov it costs and goes up to 1954. My grandmother was Janet Caldwell born Stranraer 1900 I have also found her brother John Garrett Caldwell born Stranraer 1901. Their parents were Thomas McCredie Caldwell b.c 1877 and Jean Garrett b.c 1878. I know that there were siblings called Bella, Charlotte, Margaret( who was born in 1920's I think) and a few brothers too! Any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers Janet

I've just started researching my family tree and thought I was doing really well until I tried to look for my maternal grandmothers siblings. I know there were loads of them but i've searched all the local birth records and all I can find is her and 1 brother!! Can anyone tell me where to look next? It's so frustrating because I know they existed!!! Cheers Janet
