Hi Moe. Do you have a debit card ? They will normally accept that. Once you get into your Irish ancestry your troubles will begin.Believe me.; I,m across the Mersey why not ditch the kids and take me.Ha Ha! Ron

Hi Irene, a lot of my family don't agree with me doing this as there are 'family secrets' that should be kept that way, so i wouldn't ask them MOE!

There must be someone in the family or Friend who has a card you could use. They buy them but you use them, and you pay them (family member or Friend) in cash. Irene

Moe, ancestry will not take my card either, so you are definately not allone! Just don't give the kids a choice and take them to Ireland, I'm sure there will be something to amuse them other than dead people

Moe, you would be much better off getting a sub to ancestry. Works out at just about £1.20 a week. 24/7. If you mail them they take a cheque.

Hi Ron, again my credit card is not accepted, sometimes i'm glad because i have already joined the genealogist,1837online and scottishpeople my next step will be the irish websites coz thats were they all began, although i am seriously thinking of going over there(drumcondra just outside Dublin)and the boat is just 15mins from mine LIVERPOOL, Its just a matter of convincing the kids that Dead people/churchyards are a great way to spend an holiday. MOE!

Hi Moe. Next time take out a pay per view subscription with ancestry co uk. The index search is free and image down load 20 p per image.Better still a 3 ? or 6 mth sub can,t recall which for about £30. Full details on site. I took out 3 short subs and ended up losing credits by not using them up in the short time span allowed and this cost me about the same as the 3/6 mth sub. Well worth it now they have 1861 census on line. Regards Ron

Do you mean for 1901 census?? What I used to do was make a list of images I found and wanted to see up to £4.50 then just get the transcription for 50p of another one to 'spend' the money.

My credit card is no good for the NATIONAL ARCHIVES website so i took a trip to town to the library to buy some vouchers, the librarian told me the sessions cost 50p per image so i bought £20.00 worth, when i went online and started searching WITH THE FIRST £5.00 i was charged 75p per image so this leaves me per £5.00 with 50p spare that cannot be used, as i only entered £5.00 voucher per go,i have not used any since because i feel i was conned. So be warned if you buy vouchers make sure you buy £15.00 worth or you will lose 50p per card and the only way to make it up is to buy more vouchers MOE!
