Hi, I just obtained a certificate for a great aunt of mine, as I was trying to prove she was a relative and also where my great grandparents came from. (This is an Australian brith cert). I am having trouble tracing my great great grandmother as her place of birth was difficult to read on the original register. The register says 'Kingsbuompton' England. I've done a google search but nothing has come up. Does anyone have any ideas what 'Kingsbuompton' might actually be. Thanks Toni |

There is a King's Nympton in Devon, that's about the closest I can find. There's a list of parishes beginning with K at the Genuki site: http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/places/k.htm Richard |

Kingsbrompton appears to be in Somerset - but I can't find it on Multimap. Think it might also go by the name of Brompton Regis. |

Hi, Thanks very much to everyone for all your help. Kingsbrompton sounds likely, I'll definitely have a look at Genuki. Unfortunately the lady in question I am seeking married in Australia and I don't know her parents names so looking for a marriage record or on the English Census isn't going to help. My mum is trying to get what we hope is her death certificate which should give us her parents names so we can then search further but for some unknown reason there has been a delay on that end. Thanks again Toni |
