Cant find a death!

Hi i cant find a death of a John Blatchley he was in Greenwich Naval Hospital in 1861 no sign of him in 1871 so i thought he must have died between 1861-1871 but no sign of him. Because he was in the hospital do you think they would have registerd his death? Thank you Lita |

Does the fact that he was in the Naval Hospital mean that he was in the Navy? In which case he could have died at sea? There are special registers for deaths at sea, so they could be worth a look. Kate. |

Some are on 1837 online in the 'overseas' section but I think there may be others not on there? Kate. |

Thanks Sarah thinking about it later i did think he was a bit old to be on aboard again. May be you are right ,they might have moved him, he was born in Devon so maybe its a hospital he went to. I think i will chance it and send for the certificate. Thank you for your help Lita |
