Buying info from Ancestry.co.uk

On Ancestry.co.uk I've noticed that some entries have 'BUY' in a little orange box next to them. Does anyone know what exactly it is you're buying? I've tried clicking on one of the boxes to see what happens and looked for info on the site, but can't find anything. Sorry if I'm being thick and asking lots of dumb questions, but I'm fairly new to this! Pam

as far as i now you buy membership ov the site thus allowing you to see all the info on that search, EG you have searched jo blog's on 1861 census in london it will allow you to see all info from census. Roy

I think the 'buy' means to buy the cert, census page etc. unless you use a subscribtion thats the only way to get info. hth Heather

Thanks both. There are so many sites it's difficult to know which ones are worth subscribing to and which are a waste of money. Just trial and error I suppose. Pam

I bought 3 months on ancestory to use the u.k. section I live in the U.S, and if I only want info from the u.k. part I can view the original census etc., but if I want to look at the U.S. stuff I have to buy at an extra cost. I hope I have made this clear. I must say I have found ancestory helpful, I've only just started searching the family tree and already found out lots of info. Also this site is great the first day on found someone looking for info about my grandfather turns out she was searching for my grandfathers sister.

I was very sceptical about buying a subscription to ancestry but eventually did. I have found it really helpful, and there is only so much you can ask the kind people on here before you feel as though you are using them. I do still ask for their help but only after I have got stuck. Gloria

That's encouraging, Margaret and Gloria - maybe I'll give it a go. Thanks for replying. Pam
