I have a marriage for the same two individuals being registered twice in the same year, but different quarters - does anyone have any ideas why this would be? |

If it's definitely the same two people, is it also the same vol. and page number? If it is then it is probably just a clerical error. Kath. x |

Hello Kath Definately the same people, same names which are quite specific entries are: Q1 1869 District of Hinckley Vol 7a Page 84 Henry John G Taylor marrying Rebecca Garratt and Q2 1869 District of Hinckley Vol 7a Page 109 Henry John G Taylor marrying Rebecca Garratt |

That does seem strange. I've checked them out on 1837online and they are both there, so unless they are cousins with the same names (although I very much doubt this as Henry has three Christian names), then I can't imagine why they would have different page numbers. I'd be inclined to ring the appropriate registry office and ask their advice. Maybe something went wrong with the paperwork when the first marriage took place and they had to to through the ceremony again - although I think this is unlikely too. Much more likely to be some sort of mistake I would think. Kath. x |

Hi Susan Do you know where either of them was on the 1861 Census, if they were with parents, you could always send for the cert and give a checking point of the fathers name. Trudy |

Kathleen Thank you for your assistance, I think you are right and I am going to have to apply for both certificates using the checking service. It is a strange one and again thank you. |

Hi Susan As she appears to have been born and married in Sapcote, then I suspect that the 2nd Rebecca above is yours making her fathers name William. I would try ordering the certs one at a time and using 'William' as a checking point. Trudy |
