Just wondered if there was anyone on here from Olney, Bucks. Whilst tracking down my Gt Grandfathers sister Angelina Edwards, i found she married a Thomas Wright and they lived in Olney. On 1881 + 91 census thay ran the Cowper school in Olney. I found his occupation as School master and Author. The address was 10 High St South, Olney. I had a look on internet and found a mention of him in the Cowper and Newton Museum. He lived 1836-1935. I have found that the address is now a guest House ( The White House) and am trying to convince my husband to take me there, but I am now intriuged and was wondering if there was any kind person who lives in Olney that would maybe be able to find any more local info. for me, or take a few photo's for me. I hope this is not too much to ask. It could take my husband a while to get round to taking me. I would be very grateful for any help. Sandra

I live not far. its a small place, town more than village, pretty with small shops- not one in a chain, except perhaps a newsagent. Lovely market and even nicer farmers market, i think on a Wednesday. Yes, enough to walk round for a day, although you'd probably see what you wanted in half a day....and have a long lunch in one of the pubs!! not really close enough to go and take photos for you though. try googling Jess

Hi Jess, Thanks so much for your reply. Sorry it's taken me so long to get back to you but i've been in and out to work and when i have been here been unable to get onto message boards. Thanks for thre info., more likely to get my husband there if i tell him it wont take long to walk round the village and then he can have a pub lunch (that'll definately swing it). Well thanks again. Sandra :)

Hi Sandra, If you go on rootsweb and go to the buckinghamshire mailing list there should be someone there that can help you. I know that the lady who runs the mailing list Eve is very knowledgable of Buckinghamshire and has a vast library of books about bucks as well as parish records etc. bye for now kaz

sandra>> I just found out in the last couple of weeks that my ggg grandmother was from Olney and she was also a Wright. Her name was Mary Wright and she was born about 1815, she had a sister eliza born about 1833 but i don't know her parents or anymore of her siblings yet. She moved to Northampton after marriage and then to Leicester. I know its a bit vague but let me know if you find anything that ties in to your tree, although i suppose Wright is a common name.

Hi Paula, This sounds great, although as you say there may not be a connection. This evening i have been on ancestry all night getting census info on Wrights. I do not have the 2 ladies you mention. Where did you get the info you have? I will keep looking and would be happy to send you the info i have found tonight. Let me know if you would like it. Sandra
