I have been looking on IGI for ancestors born in Marston Wiltshire. Using the batch number site, there are records for Worton but none for Marston. On Genuki the two places are put together as Worton and Marston. Would there be separate parish registers for Marston or are they included in Worton? I was going to contact Wiltshire Records Office, but thought that maybe someone would know. Thank you |

Hi Carol, I'm no Wiltshire parish expert, but just in case it helps: my 1995 Phillimore has: i) Marston Meysey (or Maisey) northern Wilts, north of Cricklade (records in Gloucester Records office, 1742-1974, not in IGI) ii) South Marston northern Wilts, just south of Highworth (records in Wiltshire Records office, 1627-1811, not in IGI) and as a single entry (implying this is one set of parish registers): iii) Worton & Marston, in mid Wilts, southwest from Devizes (records in Wiltshire Records office, 1841-1954, in IGI to 1885). From the map and I guess that before 1841 Worton & Martson might have been part of Potterne. http://www.moonrakers.org.uk/ might be worth a look? Good luck, Stephen |

On the 1851 census Marston is in Wiltshire. If thats any help I could look there first for you. You could also get copies of fiche Church records last time it was £2.50 per fiche. Then you can take it to your local Records office and read it there. If you phone them up they will tell you which fiche you need as there could be 5 for a time period 1813-1837. It does differ so its best to either talk to Trowbridge Records Office or visit. Irene |

Thank you Irene and Stephen Potterne keeps cropping up in the equation as well. I have looked on a map and Pottern Marston and Worton are pretty close together. Thank you both again. |
