Irritating isn't it? My great grandfather was born in three different places, and I can't find his birth in any of them!! One of my rellies (and his two brothers) all reckoned to be born somewhere in Lincolnshire which doesn't even exist. |

Angela Yes. My husband's great-grandfather was born in Southwark (on 1881 census) Islington (1891) and Bow (1901). Can't find him on 1871. He applied for a birth cert back in the 1950s and the GRO couldn't find one. His name is very helpfully Charles Carter, parents James & ELizabeth - there are 1000s of them! nell |
