hi can some1 please look for on 1851 census or anything giving his parents names. Thomas Fox b:c1836 Smethcott shropshire i have him on 1881 census with his wife and children. Living at Ryton condover shropshire Many thanxs lesley :~)

On the IGI these are all the FOXs born in Smethcott. No Thomas though 1. Thomas was already at Ryton, Condover in 1861 with his wife Hannah and first son Richard, just 4 months old. He was 29 (so born c. 1832 - a bit earlier than you thought) and an Agricultural labourer. Place of birth Longnor, Salop (Shrops). Wife Hannah was 27, a dressmaker and born in Condover as was little Richard. Sue Goddard in Berks

I don't personally have any means of finding Thomas's parents for you. The 1861 info was from the the 1861 Census via Ancestry. I think you are back to asking for a 1851 Census lookup in Shropshire. Thomas would have only been 19 and most probably still at home, so someone with a 1851 CD would have to be prepared to scan all the likely places such as Ryton, Condover, Smethcott etc. Then you would have his parents names and be able to see if Thomas is related to any of the other Foxs that GR members have found on the IGI. Otherwise you need to go somewhere like the FRC and scan through the microfilms yourself. Sue G in Berkshire
