Hi to all the on the ball people out there from a Novice. A contact of mine in Mexico has a tree on Family Tree Maker, given by a relative. On there, there are photographs of relatives, that are very old and precious to him. He is asking can he download this to a back up. As one who hasn't done this, I cant help. I dont know what Family Tree Maker is. Any help would be useful. Thanks Ann

If he has FTM2005 he could put all the pics on his family homepage where they will at least be in cyber space if anything happens to his pc. Tell him to click Internet on the program and then options - creating a family home page (or something like that). I have backed up my stuff by cd and when I got this new pc put on my FT2005 program, then the cd in the puter and backed up and yep, all the pics are on there again.

Family Tree Maker has the facility to export a copy of the entire file as an .FTW file, this file is the default export format and it will contain all information and photographs in a file that can be opened using FTM. Export the file and then burn it onto a CD, it's safe then as long as you don't damage the CD. Photos can be copied from the file at any time by right clicking on the photo in the scrapbook or on the chart and selecting Copy. Good luck Ron www.genealogyprinters(.)com

Hi, Thanks Ron and Totally Confused. I will send him the details, and also tell him to join GR. He asks questions I am not qualified enough to answer, being a novice myself. Ann
