Anyone searching for family who are from Mansfield should also check under 'Sutton-in-Ashfield', as thats where everyone in Mansfield is born; theres no hospital in Mansfield. Unless we're talking quite a few years ago, then they probably would have been born in Mansfield. Just thought I'd mention it fore anyone who doesn't know the area!

Rebekah Works the other way too if born in Sutton in Ashfield they are registered under Mansfield. Was only as I knew my grandfathers date of birth that I found that out, made life a lot easier after that. Dawn

My aunties married at Mansfield registry office, yet they're listed under the Derbyshire region!! Must be someone in Mansfield council who doesn't want us tracing our roots!

My Dad was born at the hospital in Mansfield (he is not the old really.... 56). I am not sure when they finished maternity services. My Grandma before she recently died had a spell in the Mansfield Hospital but not a lot of Mansfield people like being there as I am told as it use to be the Workhouse. Pippa

There is a hospital in Mansfield, but stopped doing maternity services in the late 1950's I think.... not sure, but I was born in 1976, at Sutton-in-Ashfield, because that was the nearest maternity ward then. Mansfield hospital is run down, and in need of repair, so a lot of people don't like it.
