family tree maker did some thing silly

I have started and put in imfo ,then other day got some more great imfo on one family back to 1710.So started from there and came back.Now I have a family in the middle about 3 times.Is there a way I can get it together or do I have to delete and start in the middle and go back again?Hope that backs sense .Thank you Daphne

Go To People at the top of the screen and then Merge Duplicate Individuals, it should bring up a screen with what it thinks are duplicates and show you the details for each person, if you think they are the same people entered twice merge them, you get a choice whether to merge them or not. I did the same thing on another package partlly because of conflickting info, having just bourght Family Tree Maker 2005, I found I could merge the duplicate people. If you go to People on the menu bar, at the bottom their are 2 merge options. If you select merge all diplicate people, if will offer you the chance to cheak they are the samr person - i suggest you cheak them just to be sure that are one and the same. All the records of duplicated persons will also be merge.

Thank you for your help.I have now done what you both said and all is well.I can now go from me to the end of this line.Have backed it up on floppy as well . Thank you !!!!! one happy lady? Daphne
