From their Homepage Explore some of London's premier archive, local studies library and museum collections to discover how life in London has changed for the last ten generations of Londoners and visitors to the capital. Ten Generations draws on original evidence held in local collections to tell the stories of how our forebears lived their lives, the changes they will have seen, and some of the historical events they may have witnessed during the last 300 years. Choose a Learning Journey to discover what life has been like for Londoners during the past three centuries, or search the Ten Generations database of selected items from our collections. Ten Generations is a London Discovery consortium partner, funded by the New Opportunities Fund digitisation programme.

Thanks to you Lou, I'm getting no housework done at all. I've been reading through ten generations for the past 2 hours off and on. (Got to have a break for putting out washing, going to the loo etc.) Its definately one to bookmark. Good job I'm off work tomorrow, though I think I may have to go and do the washing up soon before it finds its own way out of the kitchen!

Janet I'm not sure whether to be thrilled that you found the site as brilliant as I did or to apologise for keeping you from your chores! Lou

Only just come back here! I'm now mostly through the site, only the Work section and Timeline left. I have washed up and I have a cunning plan to meet my partner in the pub in an hour or so. I'll get him sozzled then he won't notice the lack of housework!

Oh! I forgot, a quick question, when did you last see a gravestone with 'she kept the house immaculate' written on it? It's not something you'd want as your epitaph now is it?

My friend (actually a vicar's wife) used to have just as much mess everywhere as me (one of the very few Ive found who couldnt be excused through some medical reason) and hanging up in her kitchen was a plaque: 'A tidy house means a boring wife'
