Formal adoption didn't exist until 1927, so if it happened before then there won't be any records anyway. nell |

Sometime in the 1920s I believe. I don't even know if my great-aunt was married, but I'm assuming she was as, presumably, it would have been impossible for a single woman to adopt. |

What you don't (and wont be able to gain access to) is the childs original birth name. When abouts did this aunt Adopt the child? Jess |

That's exactly what I mean Jess. My great-aunt adopted a child many years ago, but unfortunately I don't have much information to go on. All I have is my great-aunt's maiden name and the first name of the child, along with the area in which they lived. Pam |

Does anyone have any hints on how to search for relatives who were adopted into the family? I'd be very grateful for any help. Pam |
