Yes, you can. It will. Assuming that you have a tree on this GenesR site, click 'IMPORT/EXPORT TREE' on the menu at the left of your screen, and follow the instructions to the letter. FTM2005 will open the GEDCOM file you download from here, and convert to an FTW file.

should do - install FTM2005, click OPEN and use a file you've built on V10.

Hannah You will find FTM2005 very easy to use. It's a great programme and there are quite a lot of GR members who have it, so don't be afraid to ask if you have any queries. Good luck! Mandy :)

Laird,Thankyou I thought that your tree had to be empty to do that???

Unknown Report 21 May 2005 12:07

Nope - only in the other direction .... IE if you are IMPORTING to GenesR from your PC, then the only entry allowed in your GR tree is you (and must EXACTLY match YOU in your PC tree) Not much point EXPORTING an empty tree .... !

Hi Hannah - fret not. I assume you mean the OPEN / SAVE box that (finally) appears when you've asked for an EXPORT of your file on here ? Always click save. Chose a name and then when you launch FTM2005, click OPEN and point at the saved Gedcom from GenesR. (OPEN in the download dialogue means to launch an application to handle the file .... as its gedcom, and FTM works with FTW files, it wouldnt work.... FTM has to preformat the Gedcom into an FTW, which it can only do from a SAVED file) Confused ? Just experiment, as long as you dont click DELETE anywhere its all failsafe - and you will learn as you go.
