Edwin (a variation on Edward) was popular mid 19th/20th and both abbreviated to Ted. |

Ted could be a name in its own right, but it is usually short for Edward. Theodore is another name Ted can be a pet name for, but there's also the possibility of Edwin Edmund Edgar etc. nell |
