Sam, your're a genius. I had been looking on the 1901 census records on Ancestry for weeks and could not find his wife or children. Have just looked up the address on the 1901 site and have found them. Wife is shown as widow, so I am happy now that my rellie did die in 1900 and I have the right cert. Sometimes you just need a prompt in the right direction! Thanks again Caz

Caz, Women didn't have the right to vote in 1900 so his wife won't appear on the electoral register, if that's what you were hoping for. You could look up the address on the 1901 census, if he is the ritght one, maybe his wife stayed on at the address. Sam x

thanks Marjorie. I try the local office but it doesnt sound too promising. I suppose the other way would be to try electoral records for 1900, there is an address on the cert and see who else lived there? I am just not sure I have the right man

Little Caz You probably won't be able to get a copy of the Coroner's Inquest because they normally only keep them for 20 years or so - but you could try the Local Records Office? He would have had an inquest because !. The cause of death was not clear. 2. He had not been attended by a Doctor 'in his final illness' Hope this helps Marjorie

I have received a death cert I sent for hoping that the informant would be the wife, then I could be sure that I had the cert for the right person, get me so far! anyway - in the informant box it says - certificate received from Wynn Westcott, Coroner for North East London, inquest held 10th January 1900. My question is how can I get a copy of the inquest? What info is it likely to give me and why did he have an inquest, the cause of death looks like syncope pneumonia. Caz
