Disconnect from the internet then start up in safe mode and run a virus check as you have a virus and before you reconnect to the modem make sure you have virus checker running I have Trojan Guard on mine

Hi Jeanette Have just asked hubby for you. I'm typing as he speaks, as this doesn't mean a thing to me lol: First of all, besides ScanREG you need to run ScanDisk, Defrag, Virus check, etc, etc. If none of these help (ie the machine is still starting in Safe Mode), there is a problem with your registry and/or operating system (ie Windows). This could have been caused by a virus, damaged disk etc, and will probably mean that your system will have to be rebuilt. Hopefully, someone else might be able to come up with an alternative answer - although hubby is an IT consultant, he doesn't actually deal with pc solutions so knowledge in this area is a bit limited. Unfortunately, we are off to the hospital with our son and won't be back home until early evening. I'll check back when I get in and fingers crossed that you will have it sorted by then. Mandy :)

My computer keeps starting up in Safe Mode with this warning. Windows has detected a registry/configuration error. Use ScanREG to correct this error. So I ran ScanREG and got this message. No errors found. The registry has not been backed up today. Would you like to back it up now? I've tried doing a System Restore but it won't restore it to the last restore point. I've also removed some software that I added recently and it still starts in Safe Mode. I'm on Mum's computer at the moment and I'll try and get back later on this afternoon to see what brilliant ideas you've come up with! Please could you keep this nudged up in my absence Thanks Jeanette x
